Cat care

Morning and Evening

Feeding

Main House

10 cans per feeding

5 bowls go on the counter and 5 bowls go on the floor

If Cleo (Grand-ma-ma, Me-maw) is on her bed, give her the Royal Canin Renal Support in a bowl on the bed.  Otherwise sit it in front of her wherever she is. If we are out of the Royal Canin, she can have regular canned food. She prefers the green can (fancy feast).

There are also dry bowls and water bowls; please keep the dry bowls filled and the water dishes clean and filled.  The dry food is kept in the armoire in the dog room. It is Royal Canin Multi Renal Support HP (Hydrolyzed Protein)

Locations of the bowls are:

  • Behind the front door
  • In front of the furnace room doors
  • Behind the door in the guest bedroom
  • Water bowl on counter in corner next to the speaker
  • Water bowl next to the popcorn machine
  • Water bowl on the island

Treats

There are Friskies Party Mix bags in the hall the refrigerators are in next to the printer, and in the Master Bedroom on the desk. When you think about it (or if the cats are yelling at you or trying to lead you to the treats), give them some-there are bowls in both areas, just put a shake in the bowls and spread them out because you will usually get a lot of cats *lol*. They are not restricted on how many treats they get; if you run out there are more in the armoire. Callie (the long haired calico cat with the tilted head and Albert Einstein hair) usually hangs out in the Master Bedroom on the desk, and she is especially fond of treats; make sure she gets some at least a couple times a day.

Screen Room

Morning and Evening

Crash (Orange Male Cat)

Elmer (Black Male Cat)

2 cans of wet food

They also have a dry bowl of food and a water bowl, please keep the dry bowl filled and the water dish clean and filled. Bag of dry food is on the table (Science Diet CD Urinary); there is more in armoire in the house.

Treats

Crash and Elmer can also have treats; take a bag of party mix out and feel free to give them some in a couple of bowls when you feed them.

Litter boxes

Each time you come, double check the litter boxes.  We currently have the Litter Robot 4’s. This is what the control panel looks like:

Litter Robot 4 Control Panel
Litter Robot 4 Control Panel

For more detailed instructions on the Litter Robot 4, see:

There are:

  • 2 litter boxes in the master bedroom
  • 1 litter box on the porch
  • 1 litter box in the corner of the living room by the patio door
  • 1 litter box in the corner of the living room by the ferrets
  • 1 litter box by the furnace doors
  • 1 litter box in the guest bedroom
  • 2 litter boxes in the screen room

Morning and Evening

Check the litter boxes each time you come to the house; they usually don’t need anything, but can sometimes get stuck.  Most errors can be cleared by hitting the X button and then the Cycle (Flush) button.

If the light is solid blue, all is good. Still take a look at the litter, it may be low or it may need flushed if the box hasn’t sensed someone was in it. To flush, hit the X button, then the Cycle button.

When the light is blue flashing, the litter box is full and the liner needs pulled and changed. IMPORTANT!!! Once you pull and replace the liner and shut the drawer, hit the X to let it know that it is ready for action again.

If the blue light is mostly solid and just the end is flashing, that just means it has lost connection with the wi-fi, so don’t worry about it if it is doing that.

When the light is red, that means that someone has just used the box and it is waiting to make sure the cat is clear before it flushes. If the cat is out of the box and you want to flush it immediately, hit the X button, and if needed the Cycle button.

If the light is blue and yellow, that means one of the sensors is acting up or dirty. Usually you can clear it by hitting the x and then Cycle.

Keep an eye on the litter level; if it starts to get low, top the litter to the line.

Housebreaking pads

Evening

Next to the ferrets are a row of housebreaking pads.  If you could, change them daily.  Lucy, the grey tripod, has trouble with the litter boxes. Sometimes she unfortunately decides to go somewhere other than the pads; she is a little old lady and sometimes forgets. If she does, just wipe up with paper towels and spray with Oxyfresh Advanced All Surface Pet Stain Remover. Don’t leave a puddle of it on the floor; let it sit a few minutes and then wipe it up so they don’t walk in it. Although it is usually not an issue, all of the chairs/couches are covered with waterproof blankets, and can also be sprayed with the Oxyfresh; we will wash them when we get home.
